How to text an SMS without giving up your number
What the recipient sees, and what anonymity does not cover.
The form never asks you for your own mobile number. The message is sent from our gateway's line, and it is that number which appears on the recipient's end. Be careful, though: discreet does not mean above the law. Sends are logged, IP address included, and the service remains subject to French law.
The steps
- 1
Reach the send form
Only the recipient's number and the text are asked of you. Your own line takes no part at any moment in the procedure.
- 2
Sign the message if you want to be recognized
Since the displayed number is not yours, the recipient doesn't know who is writing. Add your first name in the text if you want them to identify you.
- 3
Confirm after the security buffer
The 60-second countdown applies to all sends, without the slightest exception.
- 4
Find the replies on the dedicated page
A reply sent to the gateway number appears on the public page of received messages: expect no confidentiality there.
Good to know
- •The sender number is shared: several people use it at the same time.
- •Replies are published in the open — never ask for sensitive information in return.
- •Hidden from the recipient does not mean untraceable: every send is recorded and can be handed to the authorities upon request.
The common questions
Q01Does the recipient see my phone number?
No. The message carries our gateway's number, never yours, which the form does not even ask you for.
Q02Is the send perfectly anonymous?
No. Sends are logged, IP address in particular, and can be disclosed to the courts in case of abuse. Anonymity holds toward the recipient, not toward the law.
