Fixed-line telephony subscriptions
The slow decline of the traditional fixed line.
According to ARCEP's Observatory of electronic communications, fixed-line telephony subscriptions reached 37 millions of units in 2024 in France. The peak over the period was recorded in 2009 (41 millions of units). Between 1998 and 2024, the change amounts to +8.4 %.

Subscriptions to fixed telephone service are declining as mobile and internet-based communications take hold. The historic fixed line is losing ground, even if voice over broadband boxes keeps a share of it.
